Grupo Puentes awarded a 600 million euro contract in Chile, in a consortium with its shareholder CRBC

With this contract Grupo Puentes and CRBC will design, build, equip and carry out maintenance, together with the replacement of medical equipment and furniture, for fifteen years, of the Maule Network. This network consists of three hospitals located in the municipalities of Cauquenes, Constitución and Parral, in the region of Maule, with a total of 368 beds. This hospital network is expected to be operational by mid-2024. The constructionof the hospital complexes will require an initial investment of some €250million of the total contract with other items included in the €600 million award.

The Saprissa Bridge in Costa Rica opens to traffic

The Saprissa bridge (bridge over the Virilla river on national route 32) has been inaugurated by Rodolfo Méndez, minister of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) of Costa Rica, who highlighted in the opening that the work was executed in compliance the established deadlines and costs. The project, executed in 18 months, has a total length of 856 meters, which includes the bridge with a length of 286 m, with a deck executed by successive cantilevers whose width is 14.3 m and is supported by 2 piers 50 m high.

Completed the work of the Colmenar Bridge

Continuing with the planning, the Nudo de Colmenar bridge, which supports the connecting branch between the M-607, towards Madrid, and the M-40, towards A-1, has been opened to traffic. 560.7 m, it was executed with curved concrete precast, variable depth, and constant depth; the structure is developed along 17 variable spans. The span that crosses the M-40 has a span of 56.2 m. The complexity of the work lies in its nature, it is a main communication hub in Madrid. The works were carried out in 10 months, of which only 6 were invested in the execution of the new board.

Grupo Puentes awarded a € 23.4 million contract in the US

Bridges and Roads (BARC), a subsidiary of Grupo Puentes in the US, has been awarded a project to improve the RM 620 highway in Williamson County, Texas.

The project spans 1.5 kilometers as it passes through the city of Round Rock. Among other works, the elevation of existing interchanges and passages stands out, among them, that of the railway.

Puentes Infraestructuras wins the San Telmo Award

Puentes Infraestructuras receives second prize for the 2019 San Telmo Award for the expansion work of the Atlantic highway, AP-9, in the section of the Cangas-Teis junction, awarded by the CICCP, in recognition of its work as a company awarded the performance (in joint venture with Dragados).

The work includes the expansion of the Rande Bridge, named the second best bridge in the world by the International Association of Bridges and Structural Engineering (IABSE).

The Congress of the International Association of Bridges and Structural Engineering (IABSE) has awarded Rande Bridge in New York as the second most important infrastructure in the world in 2019 and first finalist of the awards for the Best Structure in the World (Outstanding Structure Award-OSTRA ). The OSTRA awards have recognized since 1998 the most outstanding, innovative and creative structures from different parts of the world.

The extension of the Rande bridge (cable-stayed bridge with a span of 400 meters of main span and a total length of 704 meters), is an unprecedented and pioneering action in the field of civil engineering worldwide, since there are no known precedents even in Europe or the rest of the world.

This project has been the greatest constructive challenge for Grupo Puentes in 2019, and obtaining this award is recognition of the constructive excellence that distinguishes its works.

New award in Panama

Puentes Infraestructuras is awarded the International Public Bid for the “Design and Construction of the Rehabilitation of the Atalaya – Mariato – Quebro – Las Flores road and improvement of the branch to Varadero, Veraguas province” called by the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) of Panama, in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

The project includes the design and construction of two new bridges: one over the Palmilla ravine, 22.5 m long, and the other over the La Playita river, 43.5 m long.

The Atalaya – Mariato – Quebró – Flores section has a total length of 102.12 kilometers and the Arena de Quebro – Varadero road or branch is 11.06 kilometers, adding a total length of 113.18 kilometers.

Construction of the Guayaquil Hospital Complex concludes in record time

On March 30, the new IESS Ceibos Hospital opened its doors. In the opening ceremony, the president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, highlighted the excellent work carried out by Grupo Puentes, which has built in just 14 months (an unprecedented record time in South America) one of the largest hospital complexes in Ecuador (97,000 m² ). The president also stressed that 2,500 workers participated in the work and it has been concluded without having registered any accident.
